To further support the health and well-being of our youth, CARES provides training seminars geared to the professional development of educators and ancillary staff working with preschool through high school age children. Numerous studies have shown that professional development is directly correlated with student achievement. Similar research has linked school staff training (i.e., for playground and lunchroom monitors, classroom aids, bus drivers) with student safety. Our professional development seminars are designed to actively support and inspire faculty and ancillary staff to address current social and emotional health issues using practical and user-friendly teaching approaches.
Programs range in length from 90 minutes to full-day Professional Development days. Each program is tailored to the audience and specific needs of the students of each school. Topics can be combined, modified and expanded to meet your group’s objectives and address such topics as:
Cliques, Exclusion, and Other Mean Behaviors
Navigating the Teen Party Scene
Social Networking… A Drain on the Adolescent Brain
Transitioning: Supporting Kids in Change
Sexual Harassment Inside and Outside the Classroom
Please note: Limited training dates available for 2010.
