ELEMENTARY PROGRAMS
CARES offers several programs with messages geared to elementary age children. These programs are delivered within the classroom, after school on an elective basis, or as part of an extra-curricular group. These programs focus on building healthy friendships, connecting with peers, dealing with cliques and bullying, personal safety and building strong, healthy bodies.
After School Program - KidPOWER
This program uses drama, recreation, cooking and art to bring elementary youth together with high school mentors in an interactive learning environment. Over the course of three different sessions, participants work in small groups and teams to build confidence, competence, problem-solving and communication skills while learning the value of teamwork firsthand.
This program, open to 3rd and 4th graders, is offered in two sessions, spring and fall, and meets once a week for three weeks. Pre-registration is required for this class.
